Richard never had an orthodontic assessment as a teenager because his teeth were pretty straight. As a result, his short lower jaw was not recognised to be a problem. When he became older, he developed Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, where he would wake gasping for breath. As a consequence, he was listless, exhausted and unable to function properly.
Richard had several issues. The first was that he had a retruded midface and lower jaw, making his face look set back and he had severe misalignment of his teeth. Additionally, because his face was retro-positioned, he also suffered significantly from Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).
In order to achieve the best possible aesthetic result to his face and teeth, as well as address the Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, Richard had pre-surgical orthodontic treatment carried out by Dr Claire Nightingale from Queen’s Gate Orthodontics.
Once his teeth were in the correct position to allow for surgery, Manolis carried out a Bimaxillary Facial Advancement involving upper and lower jaw advancement as well as an advancement Genioplasty. As a result he now has the well balanced face he always wanted and a beautiful smile. Most significantly, his Obstructive Sleep Apnoea … and snoring … have disappeared!
