Deanna’s Case Study

Deanna attended the Emergency Department more than 30 times in two months at Northwick Park Hospital, for the recurrent dislocation of her temporomandibular joints which usually happened after eating or talking. Suffering with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), her jaw would become dislocated while eating or drinking, causing it to spasm and stay shut, leaving her unable to explain what was wrong. In a 90-minute operation, Manolis removed 7mm from the joint connecting the jawbone to the skull (the temporomandibular).
